About the Author
Blighted with wanderlust from a young age, Charlotte Shalgosky grew up in rural England where, by chance, she took up Chinese at high school and went on to specialize in Mandarin and French at university. Her early travels led to a deep love for Asian cultures and, after a stint as a documentary filmmaker in China, she left the U.K. definitively in 1990. After 8 years working in the heady corporate world in China and Hong Kong, she relocated to Bangkok to focus on her first love, travel writing. As a writer and photographer, she has since worked in over 56 countries. She currently lives on the Chao Phraya river overlooking the Temple of Dawn.

Frommer’s Thailand 8th Edition is well written, very informative, nicely organized by regions, and I would say a good starting point anyone planning a trip to Thailand. Only weakness my mind is that it tends to emphasis the upscale, very expensive lodging versus the numerous & inexpensive “guest houses” that are quite comfortable and a bargain. Also, would be nice to have color photos representative of each region discussed.
Thailand’s guide
This is the second edition of Frommer’s Thailand I’ve bought. I travel to Thailand a lot and this guide book has helped make my travel more enjoyable. Not all the details are in the book, but it gives you the highlights of things and where to go, dine, and stay. I would recommend this book to any first time travelers or even your second or third trip to Thailand. Enjoy!
